Week 8
Wild animal introductions

I really enjoy teaching Science, and love learning even more.  This I like to share with others, so occasionally I invite other science experts to visit with us. The biggest fun happens when we have animal specialists visit.

Check out the awesome pictures.

  1. Great pictures! Students of all ages have such a wonderous fascination with animals. In 10th grade biology we don't cover animals and their adaptive behaviors until the very end, which is sad, because the students really get hooked by the information, and have a lot of previous knowledge to bring to the table. It is a nice ending note to the semester; however, I believe it would be a better introductory start to get them more interested in learning, than simply the last bit of learning they get before taking the EOC. Having the specialists come in and bring animals and specimens seems like quite an engaging and spectular display. I bet these students will always remember this experience!
It has been great following your blog, please continue to post! I plan on regularly checking all of our blogs to stay in touch and gain insight from everyone's valuable input, resources, and experiences!

  2. If your classes have always been taught like this I am sure you have previous students who remember their science teacher, Mr. O'Connell.

  3. One former student entered Clemson University this year for their Astronomy program. His mom told me it was mainly because of the in-depth work we did on the constellations and the once a week nights in the winter when the science club would use my telescopes to view the stars.
