Week 7
Electricity can be mysterious to young students, so I like to play around with it and teach the how to use it safely.
Static electricity, electrical circuits, and electromagnetism are easy and fun to do in class without a lot of fuss and a minimal amount of equipment.
In my static electricity lesson, my school was nice enough to purchase a Vann Der Graph generator kit that my class put together before we could use it. Usually you can get by with a piece of real animal fur and a steel rod, or simply with some balloons and Styrofoam peanuts.

Thanks John! You always come up with some great "hands on" Science activities! Great pictures!
ReplyDeleteJohn, I love your Science ideas. I wish that more Science teachers took the time to be creative with the lessons so that the students were engaged. It saddens me when I hear students say they don't like Science. As for the faces in the pictures below I see the exact opposite :)
ReplyDeleteScience is fun!!!!
ReplyDeleteJohn it is great seeing the interesting things you do in your classroom, don't see that much anymore(at least not in the buildings Ive taught in the past 5 years.
